Hello Citrus White T-Dust!

Now that our products are being sold in Dean & Deluca, we’re welcoming back Citrus White into our wonderful selection of T-Dusts.

This tea-infused seasoning is made out of organic white tea, kaffir lime leaves, peppercorns, and sea salt which gives this fourth T-dust a wonderful and refreshing citrus tang.

Here are a couple of suggestions on how to use this delicious T-Dust:

Sprinkle tea seasoning on fries, salad, or soup to add a tangy kick. Or add it to your white fish before sauteing it in olive oil. Try combining sour cream or yogurt with Citrus White to make a delicious dip.

So what are you waiting for, don’t you think it’s time to try it now?

Say “Yes” to Drinks on a Monday Night!

mixologymonday_blog

Every Monday night our tea-restaurant counterpart in Soho–Sanctuary T Restaurant–hosts a tea-cocktail mixology class. A tea-cocktail class on a Monday night? That’s right!

So we went down to Soho last night to check it out and boy did we have fun! The resident Sanctuary T mixologist, Kerm (picture below), taught everyone how to make 5 different, delicious, and  easy-to-make cocktails! From Thin Mint shooters to Organic Ginger Root Tea spiked with Peach Schnapps, everyone got to play bartender and to taste their creation as well.

The big takeaway from the evening (minus the delicious food, tea, and alcohol on a monday night): loose leaf tea is great in its traditional cup, but loose leaf tea is also fun and can be used as an ingredient in cocktails (and food!). So next time someone tells you that tea time is an antiquated hobby, tell them to try the recipe below and they will soon find out that tea is no grandma’s beverage.

If you’re thirsty for more info tea-infused cocktails, stay tuned for some featured recipes on this blog or head down to Soho for your own monday mixology experience.

The Latest on our Tea Recipe Contest

tearecipecontest_blog

Now that October has arrived, you might be wondering what happened to that Tea Recipe Contest we started in September? Well, don’t worry we haven’t forgotten about it!

In fact, we finished collecting submissions on September 30th and we’ve been reviewing all of the delicious tea inspired recipes since. With the large number of recipes submitted we’ve been having a hard time choosing the winner. But after much contemplation we’ve narrowed down the pool to ten recipes.

Even after narrowing down the pool to ten, however, we just couldn’t choose the winner without actually trying each dish and letting our taste buds decide.  So of course, we came up with the only plausible solution: to make the top ten dishes and try them all!

From tea-inspired soups to waffles (like the one above), we’ve been cooking up a storm and filling our tummies with delicious foods. As a result of our tasting phase of the contest, we will be announcing the winner this friday.

We’re very sorry for the delay but we are also super excited to taste everyone’s creations. Stay tuned for more mouth-watering photos as well as the announcement of our official Tea Chef Winner!

The Winner of Trivia Friday #1

It’s time to announce the winner of the first edition of Trivia Friday!

Drum rooooll please…

And the winner is Babelglyph! With only two people answering all of the questions correctly, Babelglyph is taking the prize with quicker posting time than the runner up, Margaret.

Congratulations to Babelglyph for taking first place and we hope that you enjoy our teas with the $50 gift certificate!

For the runner up, Margaret, don’t be too upset because even though you didn’t win this time, if you ace the most trivia editions out of the 4 weeks (or of course you are the first to post all the right answers this Friday), then you have a shot at winning.

Now if you aren’t Babelglyph or Margaret, don’t be blue because you’ll have another shot at the prize this upcoming Friday (July 16). So keep hopes up high.

To prevent everyone’s curiosity from being over-steeped, here are the correct answers according to our sources for our trivia.

Tea Trivia Answers:

  1. Camilla Sinensis
  2. Portugal, by a Princess as a part of her dowry in the 1600’s
  3. Nestea in 1948
  4. The Tannins released in the cool temperature causes the particles to spread
  5. Trick question! Both have the same health benefits as long as the leaf quality is good for both teas and they are properly brewed.
